POPPA, Inc. is proud to have been directly responsible for funding over 17,500 spay and neuter surgeries throughout the State of Oregon since our inception in September 2001.
It is therefore with GREAT PLEASURE that we pass the torch for the Portland Metro Area to the newly formed Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (ASAPmetro.org) and their ambitious ASAP Program whose mandate is to fix 10,000 cats in the Portland Metro Area EACH and EVERY year.
This does NOT mean POPPA is closing up shop, oh no, there are still too many cats being abandoned, abused, and/or killed needlessly in Oregon shelters simply for lack of homes. Especially in the counties of Linn/Benton and Yamhill where low-cost spay/neuter options are not readily available. So we will continue to refer needy cat caregivers to low-cost spay/neuter options throughout the state, but now will ONLY assist with funding these surgeries for cats residing in Linn/Benton and Yamhill counties.
POPPA, Inc. will continue indefinitely�or until our limited funds run out, to make it possible for cat caregivers in Linn/Benton and Yamhill counties to obtain free and/or low-cost spay/neuter operations for their animals by directing those on public assistance to resources in the area, and/or funding the surgery outright, when necessary, by utilizing local cooperating veterinarians who share our vision of Oregon being a place where ALL cats are precious again.
